He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth Isaiah 40:22

The Hebrew transliteration is khug which means “a circle, sphere”

This verse was written by the prophet Isaiah some 2700 years ago. At that time, the earth was thought to be flat. So it begs the question, who told Isaiah that the earth was a sphere?

Opponents of the bible commonly use other verses to claim that the bible teaches a flat earth:

He will set up a banner for the nations,
And will assemble the outcasts of Israel,
And gather together the dispersed of Judah
From the four corners of the earth. Isaiah 11:12

The hebrew transliteration is kanaph which basically means extremity. ‘Four corners of the earth’ is simply a ‘figure of speech’.
